Firefly: Ten years on, where are they now?
Can you believe it’s been ten years since Joss Whedon’s seminal and criminally short-lived TV series, ‘Firefly’, hit screens?
It seems incredible to me that a show of this quality and scope didn’t get renewed—but then, what do I know about the ins and outs of television production?
Actually, I know enough to understand that shows like Firefly are a rare breed. We live in a world where garbage like ‘Two and a Half Men’ is given the royal treatment—and the cast are paid more for one episode than the entire production budget of Firefly. It’s sad really.
With the filmic sequel ‘Serenity’ now ancient history too, it’s unlikely we’ll ever see a return to the Firefly universe. Thankfully, the cast members (and obviously Joss himself) have all gone on to do very cool things. Let’s take a tour.
Nathan has had a string of small roles, including a popular character in Joss’ own short film series Dr. Horrible. He and Joss regularly collaborate – with the part of Dogberry in Joss’ ‘Much Ado About Nothing’ going to Nate. A confessed geek himself, Nate also voices characters in the ‘Halo’ series and the Green Lantern in the animated ‘Justice League: Doom’ film. Right now, he’s also the lead actor in ‘Castle’, where he plays a crime-solving author. From strength to strength! I personally want him cast as the lead in the upcoming film adaptation of the ‘Uncharted’ game series.
Gina has moved on to star in ‘Suits’, but she hasn’t abandoned her geeky roots either. She now also acts in ‘Transformers: Prime’, providing the voice of Airachnid.
With an ongoing role on the sitcom ‘Chuck’, we were seeing plenty of this Baldwin for a while there. After that, he joined Gina on ‘Transformers: Prime’, Adam provides the voice of Breakdown.

Above: Ten years on, the Firefly cast reunites.
Aw, Inara. Morena has had a few notable roles lately, in particular a meaty part as Anna on the TV series ‘V. These days, however, ‘Homeland’ has given her a significant profile boost as Jessica Brody.
Summer, when she’s not making guest appearances at conventions, had a role as Cameron Phillips in ‘Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles’. She made a move to the big screen in a film about live-action role playing called ‘Knights Of Badassdom’ too. At this stage, we’re still waiting for a release date.
Another Firefly alumni who found a home on a geek-oriented program, Jewel found a role on ‘Stargate: Atlantis, filling the boots of Dr. Jennifer Keller. After that, she dove into her drama roots for ‘The L.A. Complex’.
Making the move from TV to film, Ron scored a role in the remake of ‘Death At A Funeral’. Back in TV land, he played a small role in ‘Dirty Sexy Money’ too.
Alan’s had a reasonably prolific career outside of Firefly. Most recently, he was one half of the misunderstood hillbilly duo in ‘Tucker & Dale vs. Evil’. He also stars in ‘Suburgatory’ as Noah and has a few other upcoming credits, including a role in the baseball biopic about Jackie Robinson’s life, ‘42’.

I'd like to see how Zoe copes with Wash's death, even if only as a cameo in a series full of new characters. And I'd like to find out more about Blue Sun.
