If you grew up with the shonky special effects but great storytelling of Blake's 7, then this is great news. If you grew up hearing about how great Blake's 7 was, this is also great news.

Welcome back Blake, Vila, Gan, Jenna, Avon, Cally, Zen and the gloriously evil Servalan!

In reboots we never, ever thought would happen news, it seems the classic UK SF series, Blake’s 7, could be heading back to the small screen.




Clearly Casino Royale and Green Lantern director Martin Campbell likes the number 7 - he's on board to reboot the series, which ran for four seasons from 1978 to1981.

In Blake’s 7, a motley crew of outcasts, led by political dissident Roj Blake commandeer a technologically advanced alien spaceship called the Liberator to fight the totalitarian Terran Federation.





Blake’s 7 was created by the guy who also created the Daleks, Terry Nation, who pitched the series to the BC as “The Dirty Dozen in space”.

Blake’s crew include computer genius Avon, smuggler Jenna, thief Vila, murderer Gan, telepathic guerrilla soldier Cally and two computers – the prickly Zen and the egotistical Orac.





The Terran Federation is led by Supreme Commander Servalan, who is, for our money, one of the best female characters in SF.

With a penchant for outlandish eveningwear and a haircut that that is as severe as her rule, Servalan is the galaxy’s sexiest sociopath.

Campbell will direct the pilot, which will be written by Heroes and CSI writer Joe Pokaski. As for cast, as Zen would say: “That information is not available.” When it does become available, we'll let you know. Fingers crossed they can pull it off!
