What's On This Week June 13 - 19

This week continues in fine fashion with Marathonia, SCI FI's monster three-show marathon.

Monday the 13th sees the final day of Season Ones - with the highly entertaining Warehouse 13! Starting at 8:30am, it's the entire first season of Warehouse 13, filled with classic moments, great artefacts, and the delightful bickering of Myka and Pete.

Tuesday night is a very special night for fans of vintage TV horror. At 7:30pm, 'The Vault' opens, releasing Kolchack: The Night Stalker and Forever Knight!

Two thumbs up, right there.

Forever Knight is set and shot in Toronto, with Geraint Win Davies as Detective Nick Knight, hardbitten (literally) crime fighter. He's one of the good guys, a prototype, you could say, for Angel, as he's 800 years old, feels guilty for killing people for all those years, and wants to become a human being again. Fast paced, and well written, this is a late 80's, early 90's gem that is definitely worth a look!

The cast of Forever Knight. Lovin'. The. Hair.

At 8:30pm it's Kolchak: The Night Stalker! This beloved series first came out as a pair of telemovies (adapted from the original Kolchack novel by legendary Sci Fi writer Richard Matheson) in 1972 and 1973, and then took off during '74/75.

Carl Kolchak, played by Darren McGavin, is loosely based on Charles Fort, creator of The Fortean Times. Kolchak works as a reporter in Chicago and finds himself getting into the 'Mulder' side of things - witnessing bizarre events, but then never quite having the evidence required to back them up. Indeed, if you enjoyed The X-Files, you'll see a lot of similarities in Kolchak: The Night Stalker - but with a groovy 70's slant!

Kolchak gets ready to investigate. "You be Scully!" "Who's Scully?"

On Sunday the 19th, it's time for Terminator III! Arnie said he'd be back, and now his is, on SCI FI, at noon and at 10:15pm.

A young Nick Stahl stars as John Connor, who is now relentlessly pursued by a female terminator, the T-X, played by Kristanna Loken. A reprogrammed T-850 101 model (dat's de Governator!) is sent back in time to protect the future leader of the resistance and his future wife, Kate Brewster (Claire Danes). Can they avoid Judgement Day? It's going to be tough. It's going to be full of explosions!

A great twist, plenty of action and a rip-snorting pace makes T:3 great fun. Tune in this Sunday!

I think Vulcan Eddie's confusing a couple of things into one, as well - Russell T Davies has stated that he considers the Time Lords started the Time War when they sent the Fourth Doctor, Sarah and Harry to Skaro to prevent the creation of the Daleks (only being partially successful, setting them back by a milleniun or so, and completely altering their future timeline - a discussion for another day, that one!) in "Genesis of the Daleks".

Later, in "Resurrection of the Daleks", the Daleks have captured the Fifth Doctor, Tegan and Turlough with the intent of duplicating them and sending the duplicates to Gallifrey to assassinate the Time Lord High Council - which could be seen as their response (the only Dalek story between "Genesis" and "Resurrection" was "Destiny of the Daleks", where the Daleks resurrected their long-dead creator Davros, but that was for a tactical advantage in a logic-deadlocked war with the Movellans).

I did confuse the daleks with the sonatrans, bad baaaad me !Luckily JC found the right story I was on about, good on ya JC ! I was about 7 yrs old when I had seen it fresh off the telly,so I can be forgiven (may be..) if my memory was a little fuzzy on the details.
