Immortals : What's It All About?
You may or may not have seen the trailers to Tarsem Singh's Immortals floating about the internet. If you have, you may understand the excitement that's been building up. Releasing on the tremendous date of 11.11.11, it's like 300, but with more than one colour at a time. Maybe a bit of Clash of the Titans thrown in there too. But even more epic. Starring the hairy-chested new Superman Henry Cavill and The Comeback King (recently dethroning Robert Downey Jr) Mickey Rourke, as well as John...There's A Peter Falk Celebration On TV1 on Friday July 1
Acting legend Peter Falk died earlier this month, on June 23rd, aged 83. He was a longtime sufferer of Alzheimer's and died at his Beverly Hills home. His long and illustrious career began with small film roles in the late fifties, but he will forever be known as Columbo, one of TV's truly iconic detectives. First appearing in 1968 in the telemovie, 'Precription: Murder' the detective debuted in a full-fledged TV series in 1971 - and the first episode was directed by Steven Spielberg. A good...VW Gets Burned By Greenpeace Via Star Wars
We all new it was going to happen. That VW, after launching an awesome Superbowl campaign featuring a cute-as-a-button Darth Vader, would have that campaign thrown back in their face by Greenpeace. Wha? Okay, so here's the deal. VW, according to Greenpeace is just as bad for the Planet Earth as the Death Star was for Planet Alderaan. As the biggest car company in Europe, it has a huge carbon footprint. Greenpeace, among other things, claims that Volkswagen was one of the driving forces...Mana Bar Opens in Melbourne July 16
Videogame cocktail bar, the Mana Bar, will open its second venue in Melbourne, Australia on Saturday, 16th of July 2011. If you've been to The Mana Bar in Brisbane, then you know it combines quality cocktails with current generation console video games. A venue that is accessible to the general public, while still being credible to the hard-core gamers, it transcends the usual geek stereotype and allows people to socialise in a new and unique way. Get ready for a special event on SCI FI - 'The Roast of William Shatner'! It'll be aired THIS Saturday, July 2 at 1:30pm and 10:15pm. If you’ve heard of the Friar’s Club Roasts, you know the gist. Famous celebrities are ‘celebrated’ in front of a live, closed, audience. What that means - a rare night of shockingly honest, depraved and bone-slicing comedy that will leave any and all the ‘rumours’ of your favourite stars put to rest. Guest stars include ‘frenemy’ George Takei, Betty White,...Check Out The Trailer For Pixar's Newest Film: Brave

Starring: Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whitely, John Turturro, John Malkovich, Frances McDorman, Leonard Nimoy, Hugo Weaving Director: Michael Bay Rated M Out June 29 This is easily the dumbest movie you will see at a cinema this year. If you can imagine a Star Wars filled to the brim with 'parsec' howlers, then you might come close to understanding why this movie is preposterous as a story. Imagine a Lord of the Rings trilogy where Hobbits regularly criss-cross the fires of Mt Doom on...What's On This Week June 27 - July 3

William Shatner, the larger than life human being behind such iconic roles as James Tiberius Kirk, TJ Hooker and Denny Crane, turned 80 this year. He also visited Australia, travelling in a whirlwind convention and speaking tour. This was the first time he'd been down under for 11 years and he was a marvel for fans - energetic, humorous, and filled with stories, he truly is a man to show the world just how to live. 'Live it your way!' could be his catch cry, because Shatner's mix of horse ranching,...The Week in Geek Issue # 62
Greetings once again dear readers! Thank you for joining me once again, as I do what I do best - keep you all up to date on what’s going on in the world of geekdom! Should be a lot of fun. Moving along… We start this week with some bad news: it’s been confirmed we won’t have a full season of Doctor Who next year....
