New Battlestar Galactica Spinoff - YES, ANOTHER ONE

Mark Stern, Syfy’s executive vice president of original programming has announced that BSG is getting another spinoff to join Caprica. It’s called ‘Blood & Chrome’ and follows the story of a young William Adama in the first Cylon War. Before you totally lose your mind, (but with good reason) the series will be limited (at this point) to 10 episodes of nine or 10 minutes long, and made for the internet. It will be shot Sanctuary style, with plenty of green screen. The tone will reflect previous...

The Week in Geek Issue #21

The Week in Geek Issue #21

Welcome to this week’s installment! I’ve been debating what to call this all week. The Comic-Con edition? The horrifyingly comprehensive edition? I know – the Kitchen Sink Edition, cause there’s everything but. Before we begin I’ve an apology of sorts. I’ve tried to be as comprehensive as I can, but I’m only one man and Comic Con’s massive. So if I’ve missed something you love, it’s not because I don’t like you. It’s just there’s only so many hours in the day and I have to sleep sometime....

    Official Thor Trailer is Mindblowing

    Official Thor Trailer is Mindblowing

When it was first announced that extremely non-fanboy Kenneth Branagh was to direct Marvel's Thor film adaptation, a collective geek intake of breath surged through the internet. When the cheesy-looking first pics rolled out across the internet, more sucking of air through teeth could be heard net-wide. The fact that Aussie Chris Hemsworth had arms like genetic ham accidents in no way assuaged the fears that this was going to old school suck. But wait. What's that light at the end of the tunnel?...

Guillermo Del Toro WILL Be Doing Lovecraft - With James Cameron - in 3-D!

After fans had to being coping with the fact that Guillermo del Toro was not going to be directing The Hobbit, they received a body-blow at Comic-Con that he was working on a new version of Disney’s Haunted Mansion, still a deep scar in the psyche after Eddie Murphy’s cup-of-vomit that marked the low point in a career that had already included Pluto Nash. Of course, the news of his production, Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark, which has already been rated R, not because of any gore or violence, but...

    Comic-Con 2010 WIN : Slave Leias on Odin's Throne

The rise and rise of the Slave Leia costume and variations and celebrations thereof is one of the most fascinating artefacts of modern pop culture. Exhibit A: video footage from this year's San Diego Comic-Con, featuring a group of Slave Leias presenting on a piece of set from the new Thor film. It's just so crazy, it just sort of works. If you've ever wondered what kind of things go on at San Diego every year when the entirety of the geek universe converges on a singularity of awesome, well,...

Here's the trailer, wrap your eyes around this and get ready for a film that will combine both...
