WILD WILD WEST

During the 60's and 70's the TV screens were awash with Spy spoofs living off the coat tails of the James Bond phenonemon and of course Le Carre's more serious form of spy adventure.

There was The Man from U.N.C.L.E. with its spin off The Girl from U.N.C.L.E., then there was I Spy, Search, Mission Impossible, The Dangerman/ Prisoner (a serious attempt) and of course who could forget Get Smart

But the spy series that deserves a SciFi tag surely was Wild Wild West about two spies working with the President of the old U.S of A, with all the latest gadgets (well before some were invented but who's quibbling) fighting equally special gadget enhanced goodies conrolled by the baddies, to achieve their nefarious ends. One of the best baddies was a genius dwarf (the actor in fact had a genius IQ) with his giant intelligence challenged minder.

Though the series is now about 50 years old and the first (and best) season was in black and white, I still fnd it a great collection of dvds to dig out for some genuine fun now and then. The full series is available on DVD if you're interested. And forget the Will Smith movie version. It was a flop.

Another sci fi series that could be put on is Highlander the Series and its spin off The Raven. That would be good as would Land of The Giants and Lost in Space.

Then there was the early 60's SciFi cartoon sensation, Scott McCloud: Space Angel. The series was famous for the only moving parts being the characters lips and the occasional exhaust from the needle shaped space craft. Scott McCloud was commisioned by the Earth Bureau of Investigations Interplanetary Space Force in his space craft, Starduster, with investigating dirty deeds and dispensing justice and sage like pearls of wisdom to those naughty persons out there in the cosmos who were causing intergalactic trouble.

Gee I miss the classics.

Any thoughts of a Classic Scifi channel being a possibility in the future?

Yeh. Think about it all the time. That's all we can hope for...thinking about it.

How can you say such things, when there's so much quality NEW SF, like The Devil Inside?

I suspect the reason "the Vatican" didn't endorse the movie is because they don't want their name attached to such a quality production. And the reason "the Vatican" doesn't want us to see it is because they don't hate us.

I'd like to see the Canadian series the Psi Factor.

Tons of Stargate/Eureka alumni. Playing the Stargate Drinking Game could prove lethal.

I'd like to see Logan's Run (the old tv series not the movie.) I really enjoyed that and Buck Rogers as a kid.

The Invaders. One of my very favourite all time scifis. Paranoid Perfection. Where are you David Vincent. Its been almost 50 years. Have you finally got proof that the alien is amongst us and nurturing their nefarious naughtiness. No E.T.s in this show just wanting to go home....they wanted our world as their home...sort of squatters rights I guess.
