Went to see Into Darkness again yesterady with a friend who has no knowledge of Star Trek at all. Had to tell her a few things so it would make more sense. But she really enjoyed it. I told her to go back and watch the previous ST film and it will make much more sense.
Also picked up on the shuttle they used to go to Kronos was Mudd's. Did not notice that the first time around.
Oblivion had a similar theme, Earth being supposedly deserted. And it was actually not a bad film, despite Tom Cruise being in it (he does do sci-fi rather well) so I might give this a watch. I saw him and Jayden on the Graham Norton show talking about the film. It looks very serious.
Hmmm, Mark Warren. Not a Pratchett fan but he was great in the Hogfather.
If it's a woman or heaven forbid an American, I won't be watching anymore. If they want a female timelord, perhaps they could "find" Romana somewhere...
It's a lot easier to have an actor who isn't too well known so there are not pre-concieved ideas of his Doctor-ness. I've seen some of Ben's work. He's be a fine choice. Some of those others already have icon characters attached to them...eg Benedict Cumberbatch. Cant have him being both the Doctor and Sherlock.
I'm hoping maybe they'll choose Patterson Joseph...the Maquis de Carabas from Neverwhere. Thre hasn't been a black Doctor to date. Or maybe the Operative from Serenity. I can't spell his name without googling it...
