Never heard of it.

The series has been written by somebody who has no idea what a succubus is.

Well for a real science fiction channel it seems like a pretty stupid programming choice, but for a fantasy channel masquerading as a science fiction channel then why not put this show on? With this show and Hex, why not bring "I Dream of Jeanie", "Bewitched", "Sabrina the Teenage Witch", "Ghost Wisperer" to the "scifi" channel? Since the scifi channel already has Medium, why not grab Lisa Williams and John Edward too?

Since succubi are entirely fictional, they can be whatever the writer wants them to be, the same as vampires, ghosts and magic. That's the appeal of the supernatural, both in beliefs and entertainment, it's simple and can be shaped to suit.

I know that they're fictional, Kosh; I am not now, nor have I ever been, a moron, and I don't appreciate the implicit assumption that I am stupid. However, incubi and succubi, and demons in general, are not fictional in the sense that Mickey Mouse is fictional. They are not the product of a single imagination, nor were they created to entertain. Their ideation is the product of an established body of mythology and lore, with which the writers of this series have not troubled to acquaint themselves; and it is this contempt for the traditional representation of mythological subjects to which I object. Real or not, a succubus is not a cute chick who is struggling with puberty and relationships, and is pretty far from being a role model for teenaged girls.

I wouldn't have used either stupid or moron to describe your position. However all supernatural/fantasy stories can be written any way the author wants, there are no rules.

Demons in general, are as varied as the human immagination, and the "established body of mythology and lore" changes from culture to culture, and person to person. The value in the supernatural is that it can be shaped to fit, there are no rules to stick to. There may be popular views, or well known ones, but that is all they are.

Now Kosh dont deny it. You are (or were) an English literature teacher arent you. The clue revealed itself in the way you meticulously break down each phrase used by others and interpret, address or respond to it like some form of exegesis. Maybe even a biblical scholar hmmm. Hate to see you eating a pie.

Time for a review of the SciFi board rules - I feel we are about to need it again.

UKTV gets Torchwood.

FOX 8 gets Falling Skies.

Sci-Fi gets Lost Girl.

Bearfax,

Way off the mark, and way off topic.

Did you actually have anything to offer on the subjects of "Lost Girl" or mythology in general? Or the scifi channels strange programming choices? Or did you just want to talk about me, or more specifically your creative writing inspired by me?

Janeway,

You may be right. Are you suggesting this because you have observed a violation of the rules, or were you instigating such action?

keski v2.0,

It is difficult to understand. The one good thing to come out of "Lost Girl" and "Hex" was the TARDIS ads. I wonder has the scifi channel secured the original "Doctor Who" series, or are they just going to serve up what ABC and UKTV has already shown us of the new series?
