At last the next but shorter season of Dr Who is coming in the next few months. Unfortunately there will only be five episodes this year followed by the ubiquitous Christmas Special when the new companion red headed Jenna-Loiuse Coleman replaces the Ponds as the Doctor's companion. Apparently Jenna-Louise (we dont know her character name yet), who played a popular teen lesbian in the Emmerdale series, is quite sharp witted and funny and reportedly is likely to out talk the constant outpourings of our present doctor. Apparently there are quite a number of eps to be also produced for next year, possibly early. Unfortunately (from my perspective anyway), there will be no new incarnation of the Doctor. Yep Doctor Smith prevails in '13.
For you Sherlock fans, the next three episodes making up season 3 will start production early 2013. Yeh!!!
Dont mind the 8th doctor, Sylvester McCoy who you are screening starting next week. He's not my favourite but he was quite amusing and there were some surprisingly good stories in his group such as 'Ghost Light', 'Paradise Towers', 'Silver Nemesis', 'Battlefield' and one of my favourites 'Curse of Fenric'. The final ep 'Survival' wasnt bad either. But he was at his best when he had Sophie Aldred (Ace) as his companion. She was to McCoy, what Leela was to Uncle Tom, a sort of tough female protector of the doctor. It was sad that this was the last of the older series because to some extent it started to pick up again with McCoy and Aldred together.
Many thanks Mon Capitan for passing on our desire to see MORE of Dr Who. But I still think, despite many of his eps being in monotone, that getting us the doctor I consider the second best, Jon Pertwee, would be greatly appreciated. Some of the best WHO stories and characters were in the Pertwee collection.
